How do I complete a Backup of my CABINET VISION Database?

Regular backups of your database are important to protect your data.

Step 1
Open CABINET VISION to the welcome (splash) screen
CABINET VISION software is open but no job is open or started



Step 2 
Select the Utilites Tab in above the Ribbon Bar


Step 3
Select Backup Utility 


Step 4
In the Backup Utility windows use the arrow selection in the middle to Ignore None Include All

Step 5
OPTION A: 
i) Use the Save Backup disc Symbol to Save Backup. 

ii) Enter description of the backup - This description will be the Backup folder name
Note Leaving blank the folder will be named date and time format MM DD YY - HH MM

iii) The creating Backup Window will appear as your database is being backed up. 
Once database backup has completed this window will disappear. 


OPTION B:
Use the Zip Backup zip folder symbol to save a zipped backup
Zipped Backups can be useful for emailing files or transferring to another computer quicker as the file is compressed. 
Please note: zipped backups will need to be extracted (unzipped) prior to being restored

The Save As window will appear asking for the location and file name on your computer where you wish to save the zipped backup.

Once you click save 
iii) The creating Backup Window will appear as your database is being backed up. 
Once database backup has completed this window will disappear. 


Suggested Backup Naming:

FULL_Backup_[Computer Name]_[Version]_DDMMYY_HHMMampm

An example of how this will look is:

FULL_Backup_SYD1650LT1_CV23_4_011223_1017am



Alternative Way to access CVBackup Utility: 

Its possible to Access the CVBackup Utility through file explorer: 

In the folder of the version number of your CABINET VISION is the CVBackup.exe Application 



In this screenshot exampleCV2023 is installed in the CABINET VISION folder on C:\ drive

Other common places for your Cabinet Vision to be installed are:

C:\Planit
C:\Program Files\Hexagon\CABINET VISION\
