How to remove and re-install Microsoft Access database engine

If you are trying to open S2M but get an access database error you can try uninstalling and re-installing with the following guide.

If you are using CABIENT VISION, and then want to use S2M so you click the S2M CENTER tab, but you get the following error:
CxADODatabase Error
     Code = 80004005
     Code Meaning = Unspecified error
     Source = Microsoft Access Database Engine
     Description = Operation is not supported for this type of object.


Then uninstalling and re-installing Microsoft Access Database should help.

Step 1.

Close CABINET VISION

Step 2.

Open Add or Remove Programs

Step 3.

Search "access" and it will find Microsoft Access database engine. Click "..." and then select Uninstall

Select to close any applications before closing the install

We can now see that there is no Microsoft Access database engine installed

Step 4.

Now we need to get the files to re-install Access Database. The installation files can be found in the CABINET VISION Installation media. This will be in one of the following locations depending on where it was extracted to

C:\Users\Public\Documents\CABINET VISION\Download\CV__________SetupDvdFiles\Support

or

C:\CABINET VISION\Download\CV________SetupDvdFiles\Support

If you don't have it you can download it from Hexagon Customer Portal Software Downloads

Step 5.

You will need to install AccessDatabaseEngine2010 and AccessDatabaseEngine2016



Double click to run AccessDatabaseEngine_x64.exe to begin the installation

Let it install in the default location

When it has finished installing you will see it available in installed programs again

You can now use S2M CENTER again
